How we take care of you

Assessment

At the heart of a good plan is understanding the problem. Our therapists provide a comprehensive assessment to look at your strength, your flexibility, and how it relates to your problem.

Plan of Action

We understand every person is different. We draw up a gameplan, specific to your needs, to map a path to your best health.

Comprehensive Treatment

We choose the treatment right for you. Our therapists utilize chiropractic, myofascial release, and other hands-on techniques to fix the problem.

Corrective Exercise

Feel better, move better. After decreasing pain, our therapists show you how to move efficiently again, in order to prevent problems in the future.

Our experts will help you choose the best treatment for you

Our sessions are a team effort. First we listen and recognize your specific health goals, and hear your story.

Prior to your appointment you will fill out an online health history. You should receive an email with your online intake forms when you book your appointment, as well as directions to our office. On arrival, you will be greeted by our patient experience team, and will meet your therapist.

Our therapist will take a thorough health history to get a better understanding of your current problems and the goals you would like to achieve. They will then perform a physical examination – taking a look at your posture, range of motion, strength and function. You will then discuss an Action Plan with your therapist, that aligns your specific goals with the treatment they can provide.

A typical treatment can consist of adjustments, stretches, soft tissue therapy, acupuncture and corrective exercises – it depends on your complaint. The entire first session takes one hour, and will always include treatment.

We recommend that you wear loose and comfortable clothing to your visits, that allows the therapist to examine and treat the problematic area. For example, if you have a knee injury, it would best to wear shorts. Think as if you are going to the gym!

We recommend you bring any medical information or imaging related to your case.

We also recommend you bring any information pertaining to private insurance, as we do direct billing on behalf of our patients.

Your initial assessment and treatment takes approximately one hour. Follow up visits vary in length depending on a variety of factors. They are either 15, 30 or 60 minutes in length. The majority of our follow up visits are 30 mintues in length.

All of our chiropractors and massage therapists have gone through extensive training in professional schools, as well as continuing education. They are all veteran practitioners that have successfully solved many challenges our patients have brought to us.

For a simple complaint, you cannot go wrong with your choice. For more complicated complaints, please read our staff members’ profiles, as each as their strengths in particular areas (I.E. Weight-lifting, Post-Pregnancy, etc.)

If a therapist works with you and feels the injury is beyond their skillset, we work as a team and solve your case as a group. Or we refer you to the therapist at our office who has a strength in that area. We will always put your needs first.

It depends. On your initial visit, your therapist will be able to give an accurate timeline following your assessment.

As a general guideline, for minor challenges and injuries, you will see significant improvement in 4-6 sessions (2-3 weeks). For major injuries, expect to see meaningful improvement in 10-12 sessions (4-6weeks). For severe and long-term problems (such as post-surgical cases), expect significant results over a matter of months.

These are very general timelines, and every patient case is different. However expect your therapist to tailor a program to your goals and expectations. If you do not experience significant results, we will direct you to a health care provider who can!

Maintenance care for your muscles and joints is a patient-informed decision. After a successful recovery, some patients decide to return for treatment only if pain arises again. Others decide on continuing care for their problems.

However, for the best long-term results we recommend ongoing care. Especially if you have an injury that repeatedly occurs, or you have a physically intense occupation or hobby.

Ongoing muscle and joint health is best compared to maintaining your fitness, or improving your oral hygeine. It is best maintained with daily at-home interventions, with a professional helping to provide a boost of treatment and advice every so often. For chiropractor and massage therapy use, we usually recommend every 4-6 weeks for our patients over the age of 30, to maintain muscle and joint health.

An adjustment is a highly skilled, precise, quick movement applied by the hands of a chiropractor to a joint in the body.  An adjustment only moves a joint by a few millimeters, however can significantly improve the range of motion and function to a joint immediately after. An adjustment also helps immediately decrease tension in the muscles around the targeted joint, by resetting nerve receptors in the muscle. Think of pressing the ‘reboot’ button on your computer after it freezes.

Chiropractic adjustments are widely recognized as a safe, non-invasive therapy for treating conditions of the joints, muscles and nerves. Chiropractic adjustments are well researched, and chiropractors are well-trained healthcare providers of the treatment. Our chiropractors clearly communicate performing an adjustment before treatment, and walk our patients through the the treatment each step of the way. Chiropractic adjustments are optional in a treatment plan for an injury.

It is a small release of gas compressed between the joint, during treatment. The sound is not bones cracking. Joints are where two bones come close together, with their ends surrounded by joint fluid within a fixed space. When a joint moves, the fluid has to subtly change from liquid to gas, causing a ‘Popping’ sound. The same result happens when you open a can of Cola – a fixed volume of fluid being opened to the air – causing a ‘Pop’.
